US may expand its nuclear arsenal after the New START Treaty expires

Sputnik News, Washington, August 27 - Andrew Gobba, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration at the US Air Force, said that the US may expand its nuclear arsenal after the New START Treaty expires, and if a decision is made, the US Air Force will carry out the order.

Gobba stated at an event held by the Mitchell Institute in the US: "After the treaty expires, Russia will no longer have the obligation to keep its nuclear arsenal at the level stipulated in the agreement. Considering this, President Trump will decide whether to maintain our nuclear arsenal at the current level or make changes."

According to him, if ordered, the US Air Force will expand the nuclear arsenal.
