Reuters: Trump's Gaza plan frozen due to war with Iran
According to media reports, Trump's ambitious Middle East peace plan for the Gaza Strip has entered a crisis. On February 28, with the outbreak of war against Iran, negotiations on issues such as disarmament were suspended.
"A source familiar with Trump's mediation team said that this suspension is temporary, due to the interruption of air traffic, which prevented mediators from flying to the negotiation location," the media wrote.
Another Palestinian official close to the mediation process said that Hamas was supposed to hold talks with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators on that day.
"The meeting has been canceled, and a new date has not yet been determined. The Hamas spokesperson also confirmed that the negotiations related to the Trump plan have been frozen."
The situation has become more complicated because countries that had promised to provide funding for the reconstruction of Gaza are now also being attacked. The UAE and Qatar, which had pledged billions of dollars for post-war arrangements, are now busy avoiding missile attacks.
Diplomats said that coordination centers within Israel have been reduced to minimum operational levels, while U.S. senior officials are currently fully focused on the war against Iran, leaving the Palestinian issue at a secondary level.
