New Poll: Over 50% Acknowledge Taiwan Must Discuss "Cross-Strait Unification"

A recent survey released today (14th) by the "Democracy and Education Foundation" shows that 50.7% of respondents agree that Taiwan must proactively address and discuss the issue of "cross-strait unification," while 34.3% disagree.

The "Democracy and Education Foundation" leans blue in political stance, advocating for promoting peace and exchanges across the strait within the framework of the Constitution, and holds strong criticism toward Lai Qingde's policy direction.

Additionally, the survey question reads: "Some believe that actively confronting and discussing the 'cross-strait unification' issue is the way to secure Taiwan's safety and future." The emphasis lies on "confronting and discussing this issue," not necessarily "supporting cross-strait unification."

To face the issue is not the same as supporting unification. To face it means "not avoiding" the discussion.

First, confront the issue; then discuss it. How exactly to conduct the discussion is another matter entirely.
