【Latest News: The President of Kazakhstan Calls for UN Reform】
On December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stated at the Ashgabat Forum on Peace:
We are very disappointed to note the erosion of international law, replaced by certain rules, and of course, the decline in the authority and effectiveness of multilateral institutions, mainly the United Nations. Without restoring the strategic balance, building a just world order, international stability and security can only remain as slogans and blessings in multilateral forums' negotiations and resolutions. Therefore, Kazakhstan supports the reform of the United Nations.
Tokayev added:
Within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York in September, it was proposed to form a group of like-minded people who are ready to put forward specific proposals for reforming the United Nations system. All major powers must demonstrate political will, call on the member states of the United Nations to launch a broad dialogue, and maintain strategic restraint.
