China's research vessel ignores Japan's "expulsion" warning and continues scientific operations near the Ryukyu Islands for five consecutive days

According to a July 9 report by Japanese media outlet Yomiuri Online: China's Dongfanghong No.3 research vessel has been conducting scientific research operations near Kumejima Island in the Ryukyu archipelago.

The Japan Coast Guard's "11th Regional Headquarters" (based in Naha, Okinawa) stated: The Chinese oceanographic research vessel Dongfanghong No.3, detected on July 3, departed from the area near Kumejima Island—what Japan claims as its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ)—around noon on July 8, at approximately 12:57.

Japanese media reported that on July 3, a patrol vessel from the Japan Coast Guard spotted the Chinese research vessel deploying what appeared to be cable-like detection equipment on the sea surface near Kumejima Island. The Japanese Coast Guard vessel contacted the Chinese vessel via radio, demanding it cease operations.

The "Dongfanghong No.3" has completed its operations and has departed.
