Japanese civil society groups: Will spare no effort to ensure the China-Japan forum is not canceled!
Owing to the inappropriate remarks by the Japanese Prime Minister regarding Taiwan, the China-Japan civilian forum originally scheduled for this weekend in Beijing has been postponed by the Chinese side.
The "Tokyo-Beijing Forum" planned for the 22nd has long served as a high-level dialogue platform at the civilian level. Officials from the financial sectors of both countries and researchers have gathered for discussions, and it has been held once a year since 2005.
The Japanese civil organization that hosts the forum, "Genron NPO," stated on the 17th that, due to the testimony given by Takayuki Kurita about "Taiwan's affairs" in the Diet, after serious protests from the Chinese side, they refused to retract their erroneous position, and the forum was informed that it would be postponed based on the current state of Japan-China relations.
Kazushi Kudo, president of "Genron NPO," said: "Over the past 20 years, the forum has never been canceled even if it was postponed, and we will do everything possible to avoid cancellation, continuing to strive to fulfill our mission as a platform for civilian dialogue."
