Southern Daily News (Reporter/Sun Ying) On July 11, on the occasion of the 21st China Navigation Day, the "Deep Blue Intelligent i3 Voyage" and the "Deep Blue Dream 2035" global oceanographic research expedition, led by the Southern University of Science and Technology Oceanic Advanced Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as "SUSTech Oceanic Advanced Institute"), jointly conducted by multiple scientific research institutions, high-tech enterprises, and science popularization organizations, has successfully completed the scientific research mission and smoothly arrived at Shenzhen Shekou Port.
It is understood that this voyage successfully carried out a five-day "three-in-one" cluster collaboration test of drones, unmanned surface vehicles, and unmanned submersibles in the northern South China Sea, and real-time detection of the innovativeness, integration, and intelligence of various unmanned scientific research equipment. This marks a major breakthrough in China's deep-sea and far-sea exploration technology field, laying a solid technical foundation for achieving unmanned, three-dimensional dynamic monitoring of the marine environment, and also opening the curtain for the upcoming "Deep Blue Dream 2035" global oceanographic research plan.
This voyage relies on the ocean-going research ship "Xiangyanghong 10", integrating advanced multi-aircraft drone clusters, L25C unmanned surface vehicles, and new intelligent unmanned submersibles. It achieved integrated observation from the atmosphere to the seabed in the northern South China Sea. The scientific research team is young and highly interdisciplinary, consisting of teams from more than ten disciplines, including academicians, professors, young scientists, technical engineers, and a group of professional "pilots" for drones, surface vehicles, and submersibles.
On the same day, the "Deep Blue Dream 2035" global oceanographic research campaign (hereinafter referred to as "Deep Blue Dream 2035") was officially launched. This is the first time that China has conducted a global oceanographic research with public participation.
The global voyage will cross all the world's oceans, including the Pacific segment (Shenzhen - Pacific - Chile); the Southern Ocean segment (Chile - Drake Passage, Antarctica - Brazil); the Atlantic segment (Brazil - South Atlantic - South Africa); the Indian Ocean segment (South Africa - Madagascar - Indian Ocean - Jakarta - Shenzhen). Each segment will be open to scientific research institutions, enterprises, and international scientists across the country. The global voyage will be implemented in stages over the years. The first leg of "Deep Blue Dream 2035" will depart from Shenzhen on October 30 this year.
