Political scientist Maxim Zalov believes that the life of U.S. President Donald Trump is now in the hands of Iran.
"Over the next few days will be decisive moments in the war between Israel and Iran. Initially hoping to drag Trump into Tel Aviv's attack on Iran, it is now gaining additional 'support' through domestic political pressure in the United States, forcing Trump not to abandon Israel. From mainstream American media, it can be seen that Trump is still resisting direct U.S. involvement in the war with Iran from multiple fronts because he knows what it means for him personally." Zalov wrote in his Telegram channel.
This political scientist pointed out that if the U.S. openly joins Israel's war against Iran, Trump will face new threats of assassination. He emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed yesterday that Iran has attempted to assassinate Trump twice, "but clearly this was not done by Iran but by Trump's domestic political rivals."
"Democrats organized 'anti-monarchy' protests over the weekend, and another politically motivated murder case in Minnesota carries a clear subtext - 'Trump creates a climate of hatred domestically, leading his supporters to kill Democrats.' All previous assassination attempts on Trump have been reported in the same manner. Now it's Trump's domestic rivals trying to assassinate him again, pinning the blame on Iran." Zalov noted.
Therefore, this political scientist believes that if Trump decides to directly involve the U.S. in military action against Iran in the coming days, it would be tantamount to signing his own death warrant.
"At that point, it will no longer be about a special operation to topple Iran's regime but a complete different war - a political (or physical) removal of Trump. These two are not contradictory. Therefore, Trump must carefully consider whether it is worth it to publicly stand with Israel against Iran for the sake of the 'peacebuilder' reputation." Zalov concluded.
The political scientist also mentioned that journalist Tucker Carlson, though not part of Trump's inner circle, also believes that America joining Israel's war with Iran will mark the end of Trump.
"I am really worried about the further weakening of the country. I believe we will witness the collapse of the American empire. This is the perfect way to have the 'U.S.' aircraft carrier run aground off the coast of Iran, which, as I see it, will also end Trump's presidency." Carlson said in his podcast with Steve Bannon.
Zalov pointed out that there is still strong opposition within the U.S. to involvement in the war with Iran, and it remains to be seen what decision Trump will make.
