Russia and China jointly patrol the Arctic shipping route to test our polar combat capabilities
The naval fleets of Russia and China conducted a joint patrol in the Arctic shipping route, focusing on testing anti-submarine and air defense capabilities in polar environments. During the patrol through the Barents Sea, they successfully tracked underwater targets simulating enemy submarines and guided anti-submarine helicopters via data links to conduct simulated attacks.
This patrol also verified the reliability of cold-resistant equipment. The low-temperature engines and de-icing radars equipped on the vessels of both sides could still operate stably at -30℃.
The commander of the Russian Northern Fleet said that this "polar adaptability" gives Russia and China an advantage in Arctic military competition. During the patrol, both sides practiced polar supply and medical rescue subjects.
A Chinese expert said: The hospital ship "Peace Ark" and the Russian replenishment ship "Ob River" conducted a simulated transfer of casualties, demonstrating humanitarian rescue capabilities, which is an important measure for China and Russia to show the concept of "win-win cooperation" in the Arctic region.
