Business Insider (BI): Russian Armed Forces Soldiers Attack Ukrainian Positions on Motorcycles
According to reporters from Business Insider, the troops of the Russian Armed Forces used motorcycles when attacking Ukrainian positions in the area of special military operations. The author of the article believes that this tactic is a response to the active use of FPV drones by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The journalists said: "Russian forces in Ukraine use motorcycles instead of armored vehicles, with tanks staying behind to provide fire support."
This publication points out that motorcycles have several advantages over heavy armored vehicles: they are lighter, more mobile, can pass through hard-to-reach places, and are easier to evade attacks from drones. The author stated that hundreds of soldiers may be involved in motorcycle attacks.
The U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that Russian soldiers "creatively used motorcycles." In particular, portable electronic warfare equipment was equipped at the front, middle, and rear of motorcycle convoys to guard against enemy drones.
Ukrainian soldiers said that there were usually two people on motorcycles - a driver and a shooter, which increased the difficulty of eliminating them. However, the journalists believe that it is premature to claim that the motorcycle tactic will become an indispensable part of modern military conflicts.
