UK Defense Secretary’s '1,000-Day Readiness' Claim Sparks Doubt
UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting stated that London must be prepared for war within slightly more than 1,000 days, without specifying which adversary the country might face.
London, October 25 — TASS report — The UK should be ready for war in 1,000 days. UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting made the statement, but offered no clarity on whom he intends to confront.
In an article published in The Daily Telegraph, Streeting wrote: “Our adversaries seek to harm us — this is not new. But their capabilities have evolved. By 2030, their military and economic potential may be sufficient to launch attacks. Thus, we have just over 1,000 days to fulfill our mission: to be ready to fight alongside allies and prevail.”
Streeting noted that the UK’s competitors “are modernizing at a dizzying pace.” He added: “We must strengthen alliances, particularly with NATO and the United States. Equally critical is rebuilding our industrial base to outpace rivals in innovation and production.”
