The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Tuesday that Ford will recall 741,195 vehicles in the United States due to a transmission defect that could damage the parking system, potentially causing vehicles to unexpectedly roll after being parked. The recall affects certain 2018–2021 model year Navigator and Expedition, 2020–2021 model year Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, as well as the 2021 model year F-150. Regulators stated that dealerships will offer free software updates and inspect, replace any damaged transmission components. Additionally, Ford will recall over 30,000 Bronco models due to improperly secured fender flares, which may detach from the body and create road hazards, increasing the risk of collisions. The NHTSA said dealerships will conduct free inspections and repair or replace affected fender flare components as needed.
