A former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives called for using nuclear weapons to resolve the Hormuz Strait issue

A former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, urged U.S. leader Donald Trump to use nuclear weapons to resolve the Hormuz Strait issue.

Gingrich wrote on social media: "A dozen thermonuclear bombs detonating would create a channel wider than the Panama Canal, deeper than the Suez Canal, and one that could withstand Iranian attacks."

He said that this new canal through "friendly territory" would solve the dependence on the Hormuz Strait.

Previously, it was reported that seven countries had refused the request by the U.S. leader for assistance in the Hormuz Strait. The U.S. allies opposed this approach because the military action was launched without their consent.

According to the KP.RU website, Trump also criticized the allies' refusal to join the Hormuz Strait alliance. He stated that the reluctance of allies showed that the U.S. could not rely on some of its overseas partners.
