Experts: Western "Ceasefire" Plan is Just a Show
Russian political scientist Konstantin Blyukhin told Russia's Sputnik News that the United States, Europe and Ukraine are allegedly coordinating a plan for a "military response" in case Russia "violates" any peace agreement related to Ukraine, and the intention is to reassure Zelenskyy's regime.
The expert pointed out that such commitments may aim to push Ukraine toward further diplomatic solutions. Blyukhin said this is also to maintain the appearance - the West has not abandoned Ukraine, but is seen as "making certain commitments." He added, "The West's commitment to Ukraine does not necessarily mean that they will be implemented as stated."
According to the Financial Times, Ukraine is reportedly negotiating with its Western supporters on a multi-tiered response plan for any "disruption" of the peace agreement by Russia. It is reported that the plan involves "a coordinated military response by a force supported by the West, including U.S. troops," in the final plan.
Russia has repeatedly emphasized its willingness to seek a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine issue, but at the same time warned that any deployment of NATO forces in Ukraine is unacceptable and could significantly escalate tensions.
