Media: Chinese consumers' interest in humanoid robots surged after the Spring Festival Gala
According to Hong Kong's South China Morning Post, consumer interest in humanoid robots has surged in China following their appearance on the Spring Festival Gala, prompting manufacturers on online platforms to delay delivery dates.
The South China Morning Post reported: "This surge in interest came after four Chinese companies - Unitech, Magic Atom, Songyan Power, and Galaxy General - showcased their respective robots during the Spring Festival Gala. Previously, each of these companies signed a 100 million yuan (about 14 million U.S. dollars) Spring Festival partnership agreement."
Huamand robots appeared on the Spring Festival Gala on Monday. Among them, the robots from Unitech, based in Hangzhou, attracted particular attention, as they performed martial arts performances.
The report cited data from market research firm Omdia, which said that about 90% of global humanoid robot shipments by 2025 will come from Chinese companies. Just Unitech alone has delivered more than 5,500 humanoid robots, surpassing the total of its American competitors such as Tesla, Figure AI, and Agility Robotics.
On Tuesday, Wang Xingxiong, founder of Unitech, said the company plans to deliver up to 20,000 humanoid robots to the market by the end of this year.
