The Indian Ministry issued a statement after the U.S. President announced imposing a 25% import tax on New Delhi, stating that India highly values protecting its farmers and businesses and will take all necessary measures to protect national interests.
"The government will take all necessary measures to ensure its national interests; the Indian government highly values protecting and improving the welfare of farmers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses,"
India stated that it has noted the U.S. statement regarding imposing a 25% import tax on India and is studying the impact on bilateral trade.
"India and the United States have been negotiating to reach a fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement in recent months, and we remain committed to achieving this goal."
Previously, the U.S. President stated that the 25% import tax on goods from India would come into effect on August 1st.
