Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Chasiv Yar —— Fortresses are being encircled one by one: Frontline Briefing of the Special Military Operation

Ukrainian fortresses are falling into Russian "encirclements." The garrisons of Chasiv Yar, Pokrovsk, and Kupiansk face an immediate threat of being surrounded.

Russian forces have broken through the flanks, quickly surrounding Pokrovsk, Kupiansk, and Chasiv Yar. These Ukrainian "fortresses" are now in danger of being encircled. Here is the latest update from the front line of the special military operation, with some information not included in official briefings.

Drone combat

The missile and drone attacks between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate. At night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched 91 drones toward multiple regions in Russia. 14 areas were attacked, with drones reaching near Moscow in eight of them. No casualties or damage were reported. However, it is worth noting that the continuous attacks caused flight disruptions.

"The enemy has been attacking our areas all weekend, launching swarms of drones. Experts estimate that the aviation paralysis on July 5-6 could cost airlines 20 billion rubles. The losses from the cancellation of flights due to large-scale airport failures on the first day alone reached 4-6 billion rubles," wrote the authors of the Telegram channel "Two Majors."

Naturally, Russia has responded. Attacks increasingly target Ukrainian territorial defense centers and military committees. Regardless of local residents' attitudes towards Russia, such attacks are welcomed. For example, at night, the military committee building in the Desna district of Kyiv was destroyed. Russian missiles and drones also attacked military targets in Kharkiv, Sumy, Odessa, Izyum, and the Chernihiv region.

Battle along the border

"In the Kursk direction, in the areas of Zhetikino and Glushkov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to attempt to penetrate into our territory. Another attempt by the enemy to break through the border from Besaravka was repelled," reported "Two Majors."

Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to advance in the Sumy region with difficulty. Fighting is taking place near Yunakovo and Valachino as well as in forest areas. The enemy attempted a counterattack, launching 11 attacks in one day, but all failed.

Battles are ongoing near Kondratovka, Andreyevka, Alekseyevka, Yunakovo, Yablovnoye, and Sadkov.

The Pokrovsk Arc

The situation on the Pokrovsk front continues to deteriorate for the enemy.

"On the left wing... fierce fighting is ongoing in the areas of Novosergeyevka, Kotlino, and Udachnoye. Enemy channels report that we are attacking Razino," said "Two Majors."

"The situation is difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Fighting is intense in the south of Muravka and Udachnoye. In the Kotlino area, we are attacking along the railway line. To the east, we are pressuring Feodorovka and encircling Pokrovsk from the north. Novogorovka is still under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," added military journalist Yevgeny Lisotsky.

Ukrainian military experts fear that Russian forces may make a large breakthrough to Pokrovsk from the northeast. If this happens, a large "encirclement" will be formed, surrounding both Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad.

Other directions

There are reports of progress in the Kharkiv region. For example, we continue to advance near Melov, heading toward the forest areas near the border of Belgorod and Kharkiv regions. In the Kupiansk direction, Sobolevka has been liberated. However, since the village is located relatively far west of Kupiansk, frontline Russian soldiers doubt this fact. But if true, it means Kupiansk is rapidly being encircled.

"The Russian Armed Forces crossed the North Donets-Donbas Canal. Fighting is taking place in the forest areas near Markovo and Novomarkovo. The enemy keeps losing positions," described military journalist Lisotsky the situation around Chasiv Yar.

Further south, near Yablovnoye near Kostiantynivka, fighting is ongoing.

"In the South Donetsk direction, the Guards of the 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army liberated the settlement of Podubne and continued to liberate the areas adjacent to the Donetsk People's Republic and Dnipropetrovsk region. After clearing Podubne, our forces advanced towards Karl Marx village in the southeast. The assault operations were resumed in the Malinovka direction, achieving partial progress," quoted "Two Majors" the news from the "East" group of armies.

The Zaporozhye front is also not without activity. While the areas of Shevchuk and Stepove are a matter of positional warfare, in the Kamienets area, we are expanding our controlled areas and capturing several hills.

Offensive speed

The Ukrainian side claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces cede about 170 square kilometers of land to the Russian army each week. It seems not much, but if calculated annually, the area recovered by our army each year would be equivalent to a small country, such as Cyprus or Lebanon.

"From a military perspective, 170 square kilometers per week means the entire front line is continuously retreating, or losing strategically significant settlements and high ground. This creates a 'sliding' effect, where the line slowly but steadily moves in a direction unfavorable to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This speed reflects not only the mobility speed but also the systemic pressure forcing the Ukrainian forces to retreat constantly, suffer losses, and consume their reserves. If this trend continues, it will have long-term and profound implications for the outcome of the conflict," commented the authors of the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle."

Military experts point out that in the current war, the focus is not on a rapid breakthrough of the front line and forming an encirclement. Due to the large number of reconnaissance and attack drones on the battlefield, this goal is difficult to achieve. The Russian army is slowly and steadily wearing down the enemy, inflicting catastrophic losses. Despite the fact that, on paper, the Ukrainian army is almost twice the size of the Russian army participating in the special military operation.
