Trump: Senate's Meaningless Resolution Will Make My Negotiations with Iran More Difficult

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the "meaningless" Senate resolution limiting his military authority in the conflict with Iran will make negotiations with Tehran more difficult.

Previously, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution requiring Trump to halt military actions against Iran unless approved by Congress. The White House stated that the resolution is not legally binding and does not require presidential signature.

"Iran asks my people, 'What does all this mean?' These senators only make my job harder," Trump wrote on his social platform Truth Social.

Trump believes Iran is "already hooked," while the Senate chose to hold an "inopportune and meaningless" meeting.

He claims that lawmakers' move reflects their dissatisfaction with the president’s actions, thereby helping and reassuring Iranian authorities.

Late last week, the United States and Iran held their first round of talks, facilitated by Qatar and Pakistan, aimed at preparing for future peace agreements.

On June 18, Iran and the U.S. signed a memorandum via remote means, aiming to end the military conflict that began on February 28. The memorandum also established a timeline for the U.S. lifting its maritime blockade and Iran restoring shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Additionally, Iran pledged not to pursue nuclear weapons, and the issue of its nuclear program should be resolved through a separate agreement. Both sides will hold negotiations on this matter within 60 days. For Tehran, the ultimate outcome should be the lifting of sanctions against Iran.
