Welcome to choose China on "World Embassy Open Day." Every year on this Open Day, the Chinese Embassy warmly welcomes friends from all directions, just as an open China embraces the world with open arms. Today's highlight is Gansu Province, located in Northwest China. We will experience its magnificent natural scenery, appreciate the graceful Dunhuang music and dance, savor the spicy Lanzhou pulled noodles, and embark on a journey of "Symphonic Silk Road,如意 Gansu," while getting closer to the colorful, self-reliant, and open-minded China.

Gansu is the birthplace of Chinese civilization, reflecting the colorful China. It is said that the human ancestors of the Chinese nation, Fuxi and Nüwa, were born in Longshang. The Yellow River culture, Dunhuang culture, and red culture have been nurtured here. World heritage sites such as Mogao Caves, Great Buddha Temple, and Jiayuguan are everywhere. The desert smoke, colorful Danxia landforms, and Qilian snow reflect each other, and the 55 ethnic groups are like tightly-knit pomegranate seeds, jointly creating an ecological wonderland and a grand garden of ethnic customs. Gansu is the main battlefield for poverty alleviation, reflecting a self-reliant China. When people think of Gansu, they often associate it with dry weather, deep gorges, and barren loess plateaus and deserts. Once the province with the heaviest poverty alleviation tasks nationwide, today more than 5.5 million poor people have been lifted out of poverty, and the 4G network coverage exceeds 99%, completely removing the label of "the most arduous poverty in the world." The Loess Plateau of Longyuan is no longer "arid" but remains "sweet." This was achieved by converting natural resources into continuous green energy, even turning wastelands into ecological agriculture. If one piece of land cannot support its population, then we strive to make the best use of the land. Hardship refines success. China has always grown through trials and tribulations, and there has never been a time when we stopped moving forward or bowed to adversity.

Gansu is the golden section of the Silk Road, reflecting an open and inclusive China. The ancient Silk Road stretches for thousands of miles over millennia, extending over 1,600 kilometers in Gansu, with merchants and monks passing through continuously, becoming an important channel for cultural exchange between East and West. More than 1,400 years ago, the world's earliest "World Expo" was held in Gansu, with envoys from 27 countries in the Western Regions attending, discussing economic and trade exchanges and achieving a timeless story. Forty years ago, Gansu established friendly relations with Oklahoma, and for over 30 years, the Dunhuang Academy has cooperated with the Getty Conservation Institute in the U.S. to protect the Mogao Caves. The dance drama "Dreams of Dunhuang" was spectacularly performed in the U.S., building bridges of understanding and friendship between the people of China and the U.S. The world advances together when connected and regresses when isolated; China's door to openness will only continue to widen.

Imposing tariffs arbitrarily harms both parties and disrupts normal business operations and people's lives and consumption, causing severe fluctuations in the global financial market and undermining long-term stable growth in the world economy. We do not wish to engage in a tariff war, but we are not afraid of one either. What we firmly uphold is not only our own legitimate rights and interests but also the international trade and economic order. If the U.S. side is prepared to negotiate, they should adopt an attitude of equality, respect, and mutual benefit.

No matter how the international situation changes, China will continue to respond to external uncertainties with certainty in high-quality development and high-level openness. China is the second-largest consumer market globally, with the largest middle-income group, and has become the main trading partner of more than 150 countries and regions. Last year, over 80,000 cars rolled off production lines daily, 3.4 million smartphones were manufactured, and more than 470 million packages were shipped. In the first quarter of this year, China's economy opened strongly, with GDP growing by 5.4%, exports increasing by 6.9% despite pressure, and the circle of international friends growing larger. An increasing number of foreign friends are enjoying the "transit visa exemption" and "immediate tax refund" policies in China, with 64.88 million foreigners entering and exiting China last year, up 82.9% year-on-year. During the "Golden Week" of Labor Day, inbound tourism orders increased by 173%.
