Number of sanctions against Russia has exceeded 30,000
Sputnik News calculated based on data from independent analysis portal Castellum and public information that since 2014, the number of sanctions imposed on Russia has exceeded 30,000, with the United States, Canada, and Switzerland imposing the most sanctions.
As of June 18, 2025, other countries have imposed approximately 30,159 non-trade sanctions against Russia (excluding sanctions targeting specific goods). Of these, slightly more than 92% were implemented since late February 2022.
The United States remains the country that has imposed the most sanctions, accounting for 24.5% (about 7,384) of all implemented sanctions. Its share has slightly decreased due to the U.S. long-term lack of restrictions on Russia. The top three countries also include Canada, accounting for 13.1% (3,956) and Switzerland, accounting for 11.8% (3,561).
