[Karas: EU allocates 1 billion euros for Ukrainian weapons production]
On May 8th, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Karas, announced that the EU is providing Ukraine with a new aid of 1 billion euros. This fund will be used for the production of weapons in Ukraine.
In the midst of Russia's preparations for the annual parade celebrating "Victory Day," and just before her visit to Lviv, Karas made this announcement as an expression of support for Ukraine. She stated that the EU's new assistance is "a very important signal to Ukraine."
Karas emphasized, "I would like to point out that anyone who truly supports peace cannot side with Putin, as it was he who launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine." She said that those who truly support peace should be in Ukraine tomorrow, not in Russia; Russia must not go unpunished and must be held accountable for its war crimes.
Previously, Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, assured that the EU will provide another 9 billion euros to Ukraine by the end of 2025. She emphasized that the EU's assistance to Ukraine is a strategic investment for the security and stable operation of the European continent.
