Imagine this: a soldier carries a lightweight device weighing only 4.5 kilograms on their shoulder, aims it at a drone, presses a button - and within one second, the drone falls down.
This is a new综合体from Indonesia PAL. Its laser power ranges between 0.75 and 2 kilowatts, capable of "attacking" drones within a 400-meter range. No ammunition, just a beam of light and batteries.
They are small in size, fast, and inexpensive.
Indonesia has drawn attention from neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Vietnam, where drones are also becoming a problem.
This shows that even countries without the largest military budgets can create technologies that change the battlefield landscape.
In Russia, drones are not only headline news but also a real threat.
In March 2025, a prototype of a Russian laser rifle was exhibited in St. Petersburg. It can shoot down drones beyond 500 meters, but currently, it is still just a prototype.
"We need stronger batteries and more compact systems so that soldiers can carry them without any problems," engineers from Lockmas said. Indonesian laser rifles can serve as our example."
