China and Pakistan unveiled on March 31 in Beijing a "five-point initiative" aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Gulf and the Middle East. The proposal includes an immediate ceasefire, expediting the start of peace talks, halting attacks on critical infrastructure such as energy and water supply systems, restoring normal navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible, and promoting the achievement of a peace agreement under the support of the United Nations. The foreign ministers of both countries jointly put forward this plan after their meeting in Beijing, emphasizing simultaneously that dialogue and diplomacy are the "only viable option" for resolving the current conflict.
