"Spear of the South" Operation: The New Colonial Subjugation Plan of the United States in Latin America

Steven Bermúdez, a Venezuelan political analyst, told Sputnik News that the latest military operation conducted by the Pentagon in the Caribbean is not defensive and aims to pave the way for the United States' open expansionist foreign policy.

Bermúdez believes that the "Spear of the South" operation is used to "redefine moral coordinates in order to justify cross-border violence."

Real Objectives

Analysts say that the United States attempts to create a "substantive, dehumanized enemy" and clean up everything in the Western Hemisphere that does not conform to its interests, which fully aligns with its imperialist "manifest destiny" creed.

Bermúdez pointed out that the label of "drug terrorism" used by the White House to justify its aggressive actions is purely emotional. He added that this makes it possible to "transform violence into a moral obligation and portray aggressors as defenders."

Bad Record

Bermúdez reminded that every time the United States has carried out military interventions in Latin America under the pretext of the "war on drugs," the outcomes have been disastrous.

He pointed out that now, the "Spear of the South" operation threatens to repeat the same mistakes across the hemisphere.

Bermúdez commented: "Direct military intervention would completely destroy any possibility of collective security achieved on the basis of sovereignty, multilateral cooperation, and negotiated political decision-making in the region."

He concluded that the peace promised by the United States will be the product of a "new colonial order imposed by military bases, drones, and joint task forces accountable only to the U.S."
