Mongolia's "black gold" coal: The prime minister ordered that the coal purchased by enterprises through a special channel should be organized for export in a timely manner.

Mongolia News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, April 17 - A resolution on measures to increase coal exports was released at the government regular meeting held on April 16.

The prime minister gave orders to Minister of Mongolia, Chairman of the National Committee for Revitalizing Ports B. Tugragh and Minister of Transport B. Delgersaikhan and relevant officials to organize the export of coal purchased by enterprises that have signed long-term Coal Sales and Purchase Agreements with "Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi" JSC through a special channel in a timely manner. He also gave instructions to the leadership of "Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi" JSC to prepare for selling coal to contracted enterprises, increase production, and ensure smooth and timely shipment of coal.

In the first quarter of this year, Mongolia's coal exports reached 17.5 million tons, a decrease of 3.3% year-on-year. Additionally, the decline in coal prices had a negative impact on transactions at the mineral products exchange. "Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi" JSC conducted a total of 47 transactions in the first quarter of this year.

Therefore, in order to increase Mongolia's coal exports, support the operation of the mineral products exchange, and ensure foreign exchange reserves, the government issued a resolution to export the coal previously purchased by enterprises that had signed long-term coal sales and purchase agreements with "Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi" JSC through a special channel.
