Breakup is coming.
On Wednesday, Musk bid farewell to Washington, moved out of the White House, and admitted that the cutbacks "failed".
CNBC reported that when Musk was leaving, all cabinet members were present.
Starting in May, he worked only one or two days per week at the Department of Administrative Efficiency.
"In the first 100 days, we accomplished a great deal. More than any previous administration."
However, Musk also acknowledged that the whirlwind layoffs saved $160 billion, far less than his initial expectations.
Someone told Musk, "You really sacrificed a lot. You have been treated very unfairly."
Musk joked, "Well, they like burning my cars. That's not good."
American media also mocked the $160 billion cutbacks, saying that layoffs, rehiring, productivity losses, and paid leave would cost the U.S. $135 billion in fiscal year 2025.
