India and the US complete the fifth round of trade agreement negotiations!
India and US trade negotiators concluded the fifth round of bilateral trade agreement negotiations in Washington from July 14 to 17.
Information on the results of the negotiations has not been released yet. According to media reports, the fifth round of negotiations discussed issues such as agriculture, automobile manufacturing, and dual-use products including chemicals, materials, equipment, and technology.
Both sides hope to reach a provisional trade agreement before August 1, when the suspension period for dozens of countries by the President of the United States will end. India is seeking the removal of additional import duties by the United States.
India has taken a firm stance on the US request to reduce import tariffs on agricultural products and dairy products. So far, New Delhi has not provided any import tax concessions to any of its trade partners under the dairy free trade agreement. Some farmer associations have urged the government not to include any agricultural-related issues in the trade agreement.
