Prime Minister Carter of Canada announced a strategic partnership with General Dynamics Land Systems Canada, a subsidiary of the U.S.-based General Dynamics Land Systems, to produce 190 new armored vehicles over the next four years, with a total value of about $2 billion.
A press release published on the Prime Minister’s website stated: “Carter announced a new strategic partnership with General Dynamics Land Systems… The government will invest nearly $2 billion over the next four years to build and supply 190 new armored combat support vehicles.”
The press release noted that these vehicles will be used in military exercises across Canadian Armed Forces bases nationwide.
It also emphasized that the vehicles will be designed and assembled by Canadian workers in factories located in Ontario, using Canadian materials.
General Dynamics Land Systems has been in operation since 1952.

The U.S. Department of State said that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit the Philippines from July 19 to 23 to attend ASEAN-related activities.
In an official statement, the U.S. Department of State said: “Secretary Marco Rubio will travel to Manila, Philippines, from July 19 to 23 to attend meetings following the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.”
The department also stated that Rubio will hold meetings with representatives from countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
Earlier reports indicated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to visit the Philippines from July 21 to 23, during which he will outline his assessment of the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, including potential intensification of regional conflicts against the backdrop of “Western militarization in the Asia-Pacific, the deployment of NATO military forces into the region, and the expansion of bloc mechanisms.”
