Recently, the U.S. think tank ISW stated: "Ukrainian officials warned that the Russian military command is regrouping and reinforcing troops in the western part of Donetsk Oblast, possibly to prepare for a large-scale offensive operation. According to reports, the Russian military command has decided to dispatch additional forces to the Drobrovylya area, indicating that Russia may continue to focus on the offensive in the northeastern part of Pokrovsk. The Russian army is also trying to block key ground logistics routes (GLOC) in the western part of Donetsk Oblast to disrupt Ukraine's logistics and gain further progress in future offensives into Donetsk Oblast." (Figure 1)

"Recent geolocation footage shows that the Russian army may have advanced to the northwest of Kupiansk after the Russian Ministry of Defense attempted to disguise limited penetration as continuous progress. ISW previously assessed that the Kremlin seems to be using mapping methods used during the war to conduct a sustained information campaign, aiming to portray Russia's victories in Ukraine as inevitable and force Ukraine to submit to Russia."
