According to the WeChat official account "Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" on May 17, in response to some U.S. congressmen throwing out the so-called "Hong Kong Sanctions Bill" again recently, threatening and intimidating sanctions against officials of the Central Government, officials of the Hong Kong SAR government, and judicial prosecutors, the spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.

The spokesperson stated that under the protection of the national security law of the Hong Kong SAR, the society in the region is orderly, the rule of law is upheld, justice is served, and the legitimate rights of citizens are better protected. Judicial prosecutors in the Hong Kong SAR handle cases impartially and independently according to the law, within their statutory authority, and following legal procedures; they cannot be interfered with or defamed.

The spokesperson pointed out that some U.S. politicians openly trample on the principles of law and justice, attempting to threaten and intimidate officials of the Central Government, the Hong Kong SAR government, and judicial prosecutors through the threat of sanctions, brutally interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs. This seriously violates the principles of international law and basic norms of international relations, representing naked coercion and bullying behavior.

The spokesperson emphasized that China's determination to fully and accurately implement the principle of "one country, two systems" is unwavering, and its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests is also unshakable. We urge certain U.S. politicians to recognize the irresistible historical trend of Hong Kong's transition from governance to prosperity, immediately abandon political manipulation by playing the "bill card," and immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs in any way. Otherwise, they will inevitably pay a heavy price.
