According to a reporter from the "Business Insider" magazine, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is using specialized AWACS systems to monitor Russian military activities.

The author illustrates this with the flight mission of a Boeing E-3 "Sentry" early warning aircraft equipped with reconnaissance equipment. The report states that during the eight hours the plane flew over Eastern Europe, triangular and U-shaped symbols continuously appeared on the control panel. Each symbol represented ships, fighter jets, or other military equipment that appeared in the Baltic Sea area and the Kaliningrad region.

The magazine's source said that this mission could not be accomplished by ground-based fixed reconnaissance equipment. He said that the early warning aircraft monitors from 10,000 meters above the ground, and all collected data is transmitted to other NATO forces through a digital map covering air, sea, and land space.

It should be noted that AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) is an electronic reconnaissance and control system installed on airplanes and helicopters. Its purpose is to detect and identify aerial and surface targets, guide friendly aircraft toward the target, and be responsible for commanding the operations of tactical aviation crews.
