Russian submarines cause concern in the West
An article published by the American magazine "1945" (19Fortyfive) stated that for decades, Russia's "Paltus" (Kilo-class) submarines have been considered a serious threat to NATO countries.
The report noted that production of this type of submarine began in 1970. Nevertheless, it still has great potential for modernization. In particular, the submarine is equipped with high-precision "Kalibr" cruise missiles. The article mentioned: "In addition to serving as an armed platform for anti-ship and anti-submarine operations, the 'Paltus' class submarines also carry out intelligence collection missions."
The article pointed out that due to its low acoustic signature, the "Paltus" class submarines are called the "oceanic black hole." In particular, the stealthiness of Russian submarines worries the West. The article concluded: "This type of submarine has proven its versatility and durability. They are especially suitable for underwater operations in nearshore shallow waters."
Previously, military expert Alexander Artemonov stated that the U.S. defense industry lags far behind Russia. He specifically mentioned the hypersonic weapons that the United States has long attempted to develop.
