South Korean media: Apple's market share in China falls from first to fifth place!
On May 4th, South Korean media "Everyday Economy" published an article stating that affected by the "tariff war" initiated by the United States, a "patriotic consumption" trend has emerged in the Chinese smartphone market. This is because with the continuous "pressure on China" from the U.S., Chinese consumers' aversion to American products has deepened, and domestic products with excellent "cost-effectiveness" have been successively launched.
According to statistics from market research company IDC, Xiaomi shipped 13.3 million smartphones in the Chinese market in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 39.9% compared to the same period last year. Its market share was 18.6%, ranking first in the industry. Huawei, ranked second, saw its shipments increase by 10% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, OPPO and vivo also saw their shipments grow by 0.5% and 4%, respectively.
On the other hand, Apple fell to fifth place with sales of 9.8 million units, a decrease of 10%. Considering that in the fourth quarter of last year alone, its shipment reached 13.1 million units (17%), surpassing Huawei and vivo to take first place, it has been confirmed that Chinese companies have made significant progress at the beginning of the year.
