Russian Diplomat Criticizes Japanese Media for "Template-based Hype on Missile Strike Ranges" to Incite Tension
Moscow, July 2 -- TASS
Yevgeny Volosastov, the acting representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Vladivostok, said in an interview with TASS that Japanese media invariably mention "Vladivostok is now within strike range" whenever reporting on Japan's deployment of long-range missiles or the arrival of U.S. bombers at local bases — a narrative that is impossible to ignore.
Volosastov pointed out: "Whenever Japanese media report on new long-range cruise missiles entering combat readiness or U.S. bombers appearing at local air bases, they almost always include this comment: 'Now Beijing, Pyongyang, and Vladivostok are all exposed to potential strikes.'"
He noted it is difficult to determine whether this is deliberate escalation of tensions or simply media following a pre-set template under orders from above, but such statements cannot be overlooked.
In May this year, Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, told reporters that Japan was accelerating its militarization and already possessed medium- and short-range missiles in practice.
