South Korean media: Leading the world, China's "Robot Era"!

On January 19, South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that the number of patent applications related to humanoid robots in China was almost five times that of the United States over the past five years.

A report from the global investment bank Morgan Stanley said that China is far ahead of the United States in the competition to develop humanoid robots.

The report stated that China submitted 7,705 patent applications related to humanoid robots over the past five years, nearly five times that of the United States (1,561). Japan followed closely behind, submitting 1,102 patent applications.

The report mentioned that China accounts for 54% of the global installation of industrial humanoid robots, a proportion that exceeds the total of all other regions combined.

Additionally, major Chinese electric vehicle and home appliance companies such as BYD, Geely, XPeng, NIO, Li Auto, Xiaomi, and Midea have announced that they are gradually deploying humanoid robots in their factories and logistics sites.

In fact, Midea Group recently launched a six-armed industrial humanoid robot and announced its deployment in a washing machine factory located in Wuxi, China.

Morgan Stanley predicts that "by 2050, up to one billion humanoid robots may be launched globally," and "East Asia and the Asia-Pacific region will lead this trend."

Morgan Stanley emphasized specifically that if Chinese companies do not participate in Tesla's "second-generation Optimus" supply chain, the manufacturing cost would increase by about three times.

For example, the cost of the core component that drives joint movement, the actuator, is expected to rise from approximately $22,000 to $58,000, while the cost of semiconductors and software is expected to rise from approximately $3,000 to $7,000.

In summary, the total part cost of the second-generation Optimus is expected to increase significantly from approximately $46,000 to $131,000.
