South Korean media: 625,200 vehicles, Russia is no longer China's top auto export destination!

On February 28, South Korean media "JoongAng Ilbo" published an article stating that Mexico has surpassed Russia to become China's largest auto export destination.

In recent days, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Market Information Association, stated that China's auto exports to Mexico will reach 625,200 units in 2025, an increase of 180,500 units compared to 2024.

This will make Mexico China's largest annual auto export destination, while Russia, which has long been the largest export market, ranks second with an export volume of 582,700 units.

The United Arab Emirates ranked third with an export volume of 572,000 units, of which the export volume to the UAE increased by 241,700 units compared to 2024.

The share of China's auto export market in Central and South America, the Middle East, and Europe has increased.

These changes indicate that the structure of China's auto exports is adjusting and moving away from reliance on a single market.

However, due to changes in Mexico's tariff policy, this structure may be reorganized again. The Mexican Congress voted in December last year to impose a maximum tariff of 50% on imported Chinese cars.

Under the context of export market diversification, the continuous decline in export prices has been pointed out as an issue.

The average price of China's auto exports was 19,000 USD in 2023, 18,000 USD in 2024, and 16,000 USD in 2025.
