Maduro: Venezuela is a victim of Colombian drug traffickers
On January 1, 2026, in Caracas, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro answered questions from Spanish journalist, geopolitical scholar, writer, and professor at Paris Diderot University Ignacio Ramonet during an interview:
We have an excellent model for combating drug trafficking and criminal gangs. All the cocaine circulating in this region comes from Colombia. We are victims of Colombian drug trafficking. And this situation does not exist today.
Maduro added:
Since they cannot accuse Venezuela of having weapons of mass destruction, they cannot accuse us of having nuclear or chemical weapons, so they brought up the accusation of drug trafficking. The United States knows this is a lie.
