America has spoken to us! After just exempting some goods from tariffs, America has spoken to us again! On April 13th, according to the report of Russia's Sputnik News Agency, U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Grannis stated that U.S. President Trump believed it was crucial to negotiate with China to find a way out of the trade deadlock. The envoy claimed that regarding China, President Trump showed that he could both exert pressure on China and engage in dialogue with it.
You are powerful and able to present arguments supporting American priorities, then American citizens need you to engage in dialogue. America has just exempted some goods from tariffs and now is speaking to us again, indicating a willingness to negotiate with China. This shift in America's stance suggests what? It shows that after pushing the tariff war to its extreme and failing to achieve its goals, America is adjusting its policies. In short, America can't hold on much longer.
We fully agree that negotiating with China to find a way out of the trade deadlock is crucial, as America has indicated. Our position is very clear: if there's a fight, we will see it through; if there's negotiation, it must be based on equality and respect. We clearly see that after America arbitrarily created pretexts, it lowered its demands and tried to bring us back to the negotiation table. However, for us, if we follow America's set negotiation framework, hasn't America still raised tariffs on us? The question is, what has America given up?
Perhaps China and the U.S. can communicate and negotiate, but if America does not put forward substantial pretexts and continues to demand under the framework of extortion and blackmail, it is unlikely that America will achieve an agreement. We have clearly seen this round of America's policies; America only wants to extort us unilaterally through tariffs and is unwilling to give anything. If America truly wants to negotiate, at the very least, it should cancel the sanctions on Chinese tech companies, relax or even lift restrictions on the chip industry, and create conditions for communication and dialogue with substantive sincerity. Otherwise, we can choose to ignore it.
