According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on May 20th, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Constance Horner, President of the Asia Society of America, in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that China's policy toward the United States has maintained continuity and stability, always adhering to the three principles proposed by President Xi Jinping: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. Recent high-level talks on trade between China and the United States have made progress, which once again shows that equal dialogue, mutual respect, and properly handling each other's reasonable concerns are in line with the common interests of both countries. However, at the same time, the U.S. continues to suppress and curb China's legitimate development rights, and recently even attempted to impose a comprehensive embargo on Chinese chips. This is blatant unilateral hegemony, and China firmly opposes it.
Wang Yi stated that Chinese-style major-country diplomacy is rooted in five thousand years of Chinese civilization, advocating and practicing true multilateralism and open regionalism, gathering the greatest common divisor of unity and cooperation, and jointly addressing global challenges. The Asia-Pacific region is home to the common interests of both China and the United States, as well as where their contradictions and differences are concentrated. Both sides should first achieve positive interaction in the Asia-Pacific region and then build a correct way of coexistence between the two countries, finding an effective path to win-win cooperation. China appreciates the Asia Society's efforts to enhance dialogue, exchanges, and mutual understanding between China and the United States, hoping that the Asia Society will continue to play a bridging role in enhancing the correct understanding of China among the American public.
Constance Horner expressed that the Asia Society has a profound understanding of China's thousands of years of cultural accumulation and is willing to continue sharing fact-based and objective perceptions of China, working together with more enlightened people in the United States to build a platform for dialogue to eliminate misunderstandings and promote understanding.
