Trump posted on the social media platform "Truth Social" that: "For the sake of national security, the US needs Greenland. It is crucial for our 'Arctic Dome' system. If we do not get Greenland, it will fall into the hands of Russia or China, but this will never happen. NATO should take the lead in how we acquire Greenland. From a military perspective, without the strong power of the US, most of which I established during my first term and am now raising to a higher level, NATO cannot be an effective force or a deterrent force, not even close! They understand this, and I do. If the US acquires Greenland, NATO will become stronger and more effective. Other solutions are unacceptable."
