Unprecedented: Ukrainian Defense Ministry Advisor Reveals New "Geranium" Drone Tactics Used by Russian Forces

Sergei "Lightning", a military radio technology expert and advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, revealed new ways in which Russian forces are now using the "Geranium" drones.

Russia has changed the strike tactics and target areas of the "Geranium" drones, with most now being controlled in real-time online. Due to Ukraine's effective interception of "Geranium" drones within its territory, the Russians have adjusted their approach, beginning to use them more frequently to attack frontline positions of the Ukrainian army.

"The enemy saw that we effectively counter the 'Geranium' throughout Ukraine. They are trying to avoid losing drones in the rear, so they have decided to use them to attack the front-line areas 0 to 20 kilometers deep."

He pointed out that a high proportion of the "Geranium" drones are now being controlled in real-time online. "We had never seen the 'Geranium' so active on the front lines before."

On January 31, "Lightning" said that SpaceX had begun preliminary countermeasures to prevent Russia from using Starlink terminals to launch drone attacks on Ukraine. "In response to a request from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, SpaceX has taken the first countermeasures, and many Starlink users in Ukraine have already observed changes."

Subsequently, on February 14, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War stated that after Russia was banned from using Elon Musk's Starlink terminals, the Ukrainian army launched an offensive on the front lines.
