According to The Hill, on December 7 local time, U.S. President Trump said in an interview at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. that he believes Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is not yet ready to approve the U.S.-proposed peace plan for the Russia-Ukraine war.
Trump said: "I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. As of a few hours ago, President Zelenskyy had not read the proposal. His team has approved the plan, but he himself has not made any statement. And Russia has also not raised any objections."
U.S. media pointed out that it is currently unclear whether Trump's "plan" refers to an existing plan that is already "on the table," or a new peace plan that is still being developed.
Earlier, U.S. special envoy Wittkower and son-in-law of former President Trump Kushner met with the Ukrainian delegation in Florida, U.S. on December 5 local time. Officials accompanying them revealed that during this meeting, the U.S. provided detailed information to the Ukrainian representatives about their talks with Russian President Putin on December 2. At the same time, the U.S. also outlined a "new approach" aimed at bridging the differences between the two sides, which is likely related to the peace plan being promoted by the Trump team.
However, as of now, neither the U.S. nor Ukraine has released any official information about this meeting.

"The majority of the trilateral diplomatic process is conducted behind the scenes," said Podolyak, a counselor to the Ukrainian presidential office, on social media on the 5th. "The U.S. hopes for a practical process, expects the war to end quickly, and expects both sides to make compromises."
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy praised the meeting as "long and substantive" on the 6th. He wrote on X platform: "I would like to thank you for this highly focused and constructive discussion. The talks between the U.S. and Ukraine covered many aspects, sorted out key points that could ensure the end of the bloodshed, eliminate the risk of Russia's new full-scale offensive, and also took into account the risk of Russia repeatedly failing to fulfill its commitments in the past."

Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian government will "continue to cooperate with the U.S. in good faith to achieve real peace" and thanked Trump "for taking such an intensive negotiation approach."
He added: "Not all issues can be discussed over the phone, so we need to work closely with our respective teams to study various ideas and proposals. Our principle is that all measures must be feasible, meaning that every measure crucial to peace, security, and reconstruction must be feasible."
