Front page report from Israel's Haaretz, the 900th soldier of the Israeli Defense Forces has been killed; the cabinet has not yet planned to discuss the hostage agreement.
The Israeli Defense Forces announced on Saturday that 34-year-old Master Sergeant (retired) Ariel Lublina was killed in a friendly fire incident in the southern Gaza Strip. He became the 900th Israeli soldier killed since the war broke out on October 7, 2023.
Meanwhile, sources said that Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected not to submit a partial hostage agreement proposal for approval at Sunday's weekly security cabinet meeting. The proposal was recently put forward by Israel and was accepted by Hamas two weeks ago. Netanyahu has not officially announced his rejection of the proposal, but sources said that, for Israel, the current plan is "irrelevant."
Minister of Culture Miki Zohar, who is not a member of the security cabinet, hinted in an interview on Channel 12's "News Face-to-Face" program that Israel is about to formally reject the outline of the proposal. Zohar said, "Israel has a clear decision, which will be announced in the coming days. Israel tends to reach a comprehensive agreement; reaching a partial agreement is no longer possible."
