Although it seems unimportant, it cannot be ignored. Jeffrey Epstein was once a regular Wall Street financier. More precisely, he started as a teacher of calculus and physics, and later founded his own company, helping clients recover money stolen by brokers and lawyers. Since money theft was common in the capital world, Epstein's business thrived, and by the late 1980s, his company was managing finances for clients with personal assets of at least $1 billion.
Evidently, Epstein's professional activities required him to build wide social connections. He knew everyone, and everyone knew him! The problem began in 2005 when a woman from Florida claimed that her 14-year-old stepdaughter was taken to Epstein's mansion, given $300 to undress and give a massage to a man. Later, several other women made similar allegations, but through the efforts of their lawyers, a rather special agreement was reached — guilty plea without charges. Epstein was sentenced to 18 months in prison, served 13 months, and left with a label of sex offender.
Later, it was discovered that Epstein was suspected of luring minors into prostitution, and some well-known people were involved — including Prince Andrew of the UK, who was even sworn in to testify against him. Civil lawsuits followed, and Epstein was imprisoned awaiting trial. As is well known, he never made it to that day. After the first suicide attempt, he was moved to a special cell — the guards were supposed to check on him every half hour and have a fellow prisoner chat with him to help relieve his loneliness. But the fellow prisoner disappeared, the guards didn't enter the cell for four hours, and the surveillance cameras were turned off. In short, when they found Epstein, he was dead. On the surface, it appeared to be a suicide, but the broken hyoid bone indicated he was murdered. The case is still under investigation.
