Fearing the outbreak of nuclear war, global billionaires are rushing to "buy land" in New Zealand as a safety measure
Moscow, May 23 — RIA Novosti
Stanislav Krasnitsky, Russian Ambassador to New Zealand, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that many people are purchasing land in New Zealand due to concerns over the potential outbreak of nuclear war.
In the interview, he pointed out: "New Zealand has long maintained a rather firm anti-nuclear stance. They are staunch anti-nuclear activists and do not allow nuclear weapons or nuclear technology into their country. This adds to the country's appeal, making it a destination where people can seek refuge from nuclear war."
Mr. Krasnitsky added: "Indeed, many wealthy individuals around the world who are concerned about the threat of nuclear war have bought land here."
Meanwhile, the diplomat also clarified that he does not know whether any Russian citizens are among those purchasing land.
