NATO European Commander: US Reduces Air Defense Forces in Europe to Strengthen the Middle East. US Treasury Secretary: Excludes the Possibility of Escorting Ships through the Strait of Hormuz with an International Coalition

Sputnik, Washington, March 12 - NATO's European Commander, Grinkewicz, stated that the US has reduced the number of air defense systems in the European region and moved them to the Middle East conflict area.

Grinkewicz said during a hearing in the US Senate: "We indeed have extensive air defense capabilities in the Middle East. I also deployed some of our air defense systems from our European Command to protect some of our NATO allies who are near the Middle East, that is, in the eastern Mediterranean."

Grinkewicz pointed out that the redeployment of air defense systems was due to the actions launched by the US and Israel against Iran.

Grinkewicz said: "Due to this conflict, the air defense systems have been moved towards the Middle East."

US Treasury Secretary Bessenert stated that the possibility of the US military escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz together with an international coalition cannot be ruled out, but he did not reveal the composition of the coalition.

Bessenert said in an interview with Sky News: "I think once it is militarily feasible, the US Navy, perhaps, will escort ships through the strait together with an international coalition."
