Reference News Network, July 26 - According to the website of Thailand's Bangkok Post on July 26, as the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia continues, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a plan to evacuate Thai citizens from Cambodia.

The report stated that this decision was made during a high-level meeting held at the ministry on the 25th, aimed at assessing the current situation and discussing strategies for repatriation.

Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampon in a video conference from New York participated in the meeting, emphasizing that the government is always ready to provide assistance to overseas citizens.

Maris said, "I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop an evacuation plan for Thais currently in Cambodia."

"After consultations with the Ministry of Transport, relevant agencies, and airlines, we have agreed to increase the number of seats on flights from Phnom Penh to Bangkok to support those who wish to return home."

Maris is currently attending the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Maris reiterated Thailand's position, stating that Thailand remains committed to resolving the conflict through bilateral mechanisms based on respect for sovereignty and international law.

He said, "However, we will not tolerate provocative acts by Cambodia or interference in our internal affairs. If these armed attacks continue, the Thai government is prepared to escalate self-defense measures."

Meanwhile, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Consular Department posted an emergency notice on its official Facebook page, urging all Thai citizens in Cambodia to leave the country as soon as possible.

Thais are also advised not to travel to Cambodia unless necessary before the situation stabilizes. (Translated by Feng Xue)
