The Russian Dnipro group is launching a new offensive in the Zaporozhye region, covering both the Stepanovka area in the south of Zaporozhye and the border area between the eastern part of Zaporozhye and the Donetsk region. In the Stepanovka area, the Russians are advancing along the Kherson reservoir, with fighting mainly taking place near the Pravny and Pravny-Grushevaya train stations, where the Pravny-Grushevaya train station is located at the entrance to the mouth of the Stepanovka River (also known as the Pravny Dnipro).
At the same time, the Russians are conducting an assault on the southern part of Stepanovka, which is the largest and main settlement of the Borshe-Tokmak manganese mine.
The Russian attack along the eastern shore of the Kherson reservoir, although not unexpected, has put great pressure on the Ukrainian defense in Stepanovka. If the Russians successfully reach the northern boundary of the Dnipro river floodplain, they could encircle Stepanovka, cutting off the shortest route between the garrison and Zaporozhye city, which is the E105 highway.
