The entities involved include: FLY BAGHDAD AIRLINES COMPANY (abbreviated as FBA), Iraq Express (IRAQ EXPRESS), Fly Baghdad, the aircraft YI-BAF, and the aircraft YI-BAN.
The removal of these entries was carried out as part of routine administrative procedures following a review by the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regarding specific circumstances related to FBA.
FBA Airlines was removed from the sanctions list after submitting a petition and undergoing an administrative review process. The rationale for removal was that it had demonstrated significant operational changes, making its inclusion on the list no longer necessary.
However, lifting these sanctions does not indicate any shift in U.S. policy toward the Iranian government, the Revolutionary Guard Corps and Quds Force, any designated terrorist organizations, or individuals who support or act on behalf of these entities.
Meanwhile, Iran and Oman have reached a draft agreement regarding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz—an agreement between the two countries, unrelated to the United States.
Yet, this move by the U.S. Treasury gives the outside world the impression that Iran has made concessions after receiving "sweeteners" from the U.S., potentially leading to the mistaken belief that Iran is yielding under American pressure and coercion.
