Aluminium Bahrain stated that it has shut down three production lines, accounting for 19% of its annual capacity of 1.6 million tons. The company said that the shutdown allows it to preserve raw material inventories and maintain normal operations in other parts of the factory in the event of shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar has also been forced to suspend part of its aluminum production due to a natural gas shortage. Hindalco Industries Ltd. recently informed its customers that it would suspend sales of extruded aluminum products due to a disruption in natural gas supply.
